Yallambee Classic 2012 – Morphettville Race Preview

February 17th, 2012

The Group 2 Yallambee Classic is due to run at Morphettville Racecourse on Monday March 12, 2012.

The race will be run under set weight conditions and run over a distance of 1,200 metres.

The 2012 Yallambee Classic is worth $200,000 in prize money and is open to three-year-old horses only.

Three-year-old colt Petman is being aimed at the 2012 Yallambee Classic after finishing seventh in the Listed Manfred Stakes last start.

Trainer John Hyam is happy with how the Lonhro colt’s preparation is going.

“I sent him down to Cranbourne for three days for a freshen up and I couldn’t be happier with him,” Hyam said.

“He hadn’t eaten up all his feed since he won first-up with 59kg (over 1200m at Morphettville on January 7) until Tuesday.

“It’s taken him a while to get used to his new surroundings.

“At home at Finniss he spends his days in a paddock and at night he’s in a 24-horse barn.”

The 2012 Yallambee Classic  is held on the same day as the Group 2 Adelaide Cup, Listed CS Hayes Stakes and Listed Pewsey Vale Stakes.
